Vedang Raina Embraces Sikh Role in Imtiaz Ali’s Upcoming Film

Actor Vedang Raina will portray a turbaned Sikh character in the highly anticipated film Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film is scheduled for release on June 12, 2026, and Raina expressed his enthusiasm about representing a community known for its bravery and national pride.

Raina, who hails from the Kashmiri Pandit community, shared his excitement in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. He remarked, “It is highly flattering to be named along with these legends,” referring to actors such as Akshay Kumar and Sunny Deol, who have previously taken on Sikh roles. Raina conveyed a deep respect for the Sikh community, stating, “I am honored to be playing a member of a community known for its valor and national pride.”

To prepare for this role, Raina engaged in extensive reading and research about Sikh culture and history. He spent time in Punjab, immersing himself in the community’s traditions. He also took on the challenge of learning to tie a turban, an iconic symbol of Sikh identity. Raina acknowledged the difficulty of mastering this skill, admitting, “I must confess I don’t do a great job with it, and luckily I had help during the shoot. But I did try to learn it and did a moderately decent job.”

The film Main Vaapas Aaunga features an impressive cast, including Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sharvari. The production team is led by Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal of Applause Entertainment. Notably, the film will include a musical score by the renowned composer AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
