Ranveer Singh’s Don 3 Exit Sparks ₹40 Crore Controversy
Ranveer Singh’s recent departure from the highly anticipated film Don 3 has triggered a significant backlash, with production company Excel Entertainment reportedly demanding ₹40 crore in compensation for pre-production losses. The controversy erupted following the success of Singh’s film Dhurandhar, which has left fans and industry insiders questioning the implications of this sudden exit.
In December 2025, shortly after the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh made headlines by walking away from Farhan Akhtar‘s Don 3. The decision was attributed to creative differences regarding the script. According to a report by Variety India, Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, asserts that they incurred substantial losses due to pre-production activities that began only after Singh’s approval.
Singh, however, contests the claims, stating that he was dissatisfied with the script and had repeatedly requested modifications before ultimately deciding to exit the project. A source familiar with the situation revealed, “Ranveer claims he left the project because he wasn’t happy with the script. He kept asking for changes to be made and didn’t like what the final draft read.”
The situation has escalated, with both parties unable to reach an agreement during a recent two-hour meeting. As tensions mount, the Producers Guild of India has intervened to facilitate discussions between the actor and the production team. The potential for legal action looms large, raising questions about the future of the Don franchise.
The exit has also led to speculation regarding the possibility of Shah Rukh Khan stepping in to reprise his role as the titular character in Don 3. Khan, who starred in the original films released in 2006 and 2011, has not confirmed any involvement yet, leaving fans in suspense.
As the drama unfolds, the impact of Singh’s decision reverberates throughout the industry, highlighting the high stakes involved in film production where creative disagreements can have significant financial repercussions. The outcome of the mediation by the Producers Guild of India could determine whether the matter resolves amicably or escalates into legal proceedings.
With anticipation surrounding the sequel to Dhurandhar building, the entertainment world eagerly awaits clarity on the future of Don 3. Will the Producers Guild successfully mediate a resolution, or will this dispute lead to a courtroom battle? The coming weeks are crucial as both parties navigate this complex situation.
