Nawazuddin Siddiqui Celebrates Rajpal Yadav’s Generosity Amid Legal Struggles
As Rajpal Yadav serves a six-month sentence at Tihar Jail, a heartfelt video of fellow actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui praising Yadav’s generosity has resurfaced, stirring emotions across social media. In the clip, Siddiqui describes Yadav’s home as “like a langar for strugglers,” highlighting the support he provided to many aspiring actors in the film industry.
The renewed attention comes in the wake of Yadav’s legal troubles linked to a cheque bounce case. Many in the film community have rallied around him, with actor Sonu Sood urging industry leaders to offer Yadav work opportunities, framing it as a gesture of dignity rather than mere charity.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui Remembers a Friend’s Kindness
The video, taken from an interview with The Lallantop, showcases Siddiqui reflecting on their long-standing friendship, which dates back over three decades to their days at the National School of Drama. In the interview, Siddiqui stated, “When Rajpal was getting good work, he would feed a lot of people. He supported us when we were struggling in the industry. Not once did he back out from helping.” He painted a picture of Yadav’s home as a welcoming place for those in need, saying, “His house was like a langar; anybody could walk in and eat.” Siddiqui emphasized Yadav’s sensitive nature, despite his humorous demeanor.
This camaraderie between the two actors underscores the supportive environment they cultivated during their early years in the competitive world of Hindi cinema. Both actors trained rigorously, spending five years mastering their craft, which has contributed to their successful careers.
Rajpal Yadav’s Legal Challenges
Rajpal Yadav’s current legal issues stem from a cheque bounce case dating back to 2010, involving a loan of Rs 5 crore borrowed from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance a film project. When the project failed to perform at the box office, Yadav struggled to repay the amount, resulting in multiple bounced cheques and subsequent legal action under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
In April 2018, a Magistrate’s Court convicted Yadav and his wife, sentencing them to six months in prison. Despite pursuing various appeals, the legal battle continued for years, with the outstanding debt escalating to nearly Rs 9 crore, even after partial repayments, including a significant payment of Rs 75 lakh in 2025. On February 4, 2026, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma denied his final plea for an extension, stating that further leniency was unwarranted. Yadav surrendered to authorities the following day.
The support from fellow actors and the resurfacing of Siddiqui’s tribute illustrate the strong bonds formed in the film industry, even in challenging times. As Yadav navigates his legal battles, the solidarity shown by his colleagues serves as a reminder of the community’s commitment to one another.
