LCS Celebrates Creativity at Art and Craft Exhibition ‘Kalanubhuti’
The Local Community School (LCS) in Mangaluru hosted its annual Art and Craft Exhibition, named ‘Kalanubhuti,’ on January 7, 2025. The event showcased students’ creativity and self-expression through various art forms, drawing considerable attention from the school community.
The day began with a morning assembly led by students from class IV D, under the guidance of their teacher, Sowmya K. The assembly started with a universal prayer, followed by a prayer song and intentions that set a reflective tone for the day. Students Prasang, Vansh, Janya, and Nivaan spoke about the significance of the exhibition, emphasizing its role in fostering creativity.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira, the principal, along with Anita Thomas, the vice principal, and other faculty members, including Fr. Arul Joseph and section coordinators Shanthi Menezes and Suneeta. They symbolically launched the event by fixing paintbrushes and splashing colors on a palette, an act that represented the vibrant spirit of creativity.
A highlight of the exhibition was a live demonstration by class IV students, who created a beautiful DIY craft item, much to the delight of attendees. In his address, Principal Fr. Johnson remarked that the LCS Art and Craft Exhibition serves as a celebration of creativity, stating, “Art becomes a powerful medium to express emotions that words often cannot convey.” The event also marked the birthdays of several students, who received warm wishes from their peers.
The assembly was characterized by a creative and engaging presentation, showcasing the students’ talents and enthusiasm. Acknowledging the collaborative effort that made the exhibition a success, students Aliza Hameed and Havish R. Shetty expressed their gratitude to everyone involved. The program concluded with the School Anthem, reinforcing the sense of community and pride.
The exhibition was coordinated efficiently by art teachers Thyagaraj and Revathi, who played a crucial role in organizing the event. Their guidance ensured that the exhibition not only celebrated artistic expression but also fostered a supportive environment for students to explore their creativity.
As the event wrapped up, it was clear that ‘Kalanubhuti’ had successfully highlighted the importance of art and creativity within the school community, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.
