Dhurandhar Breaks Records by Skipping Tuesday Discount Offer Again
The film Dhurandhar has made history by becoming the first movie to forego the Tuesday discount offer for the second consecutive week. Despite a solid opening, its performance during the weekdays exceeded expectations, demonstrating remarkable box office strength. From Day 8 to Day 10, the film generated an impressive Rs. 146.60 crores, indicating a strong demand among audiences.
Industry insiders reported that the film’s weekend performance suggested a potential spike in earnings for its second weekend. Consequently, the distributors opted not to implement the traditional Tuesday ticket discount of Rs. 99 this week, a decision that may set a new precedent for future releases. According to a source from Bollywood Hungama, the decision was based on the film’s popularity, leading cinemas to maintain full pricing for every day of the week, including Tuesdays.
This decision marks a significant departure from the trend seen since the Tuesday discount initiative began on April 22, 2025. Historically, only two films, Raid 2 and Sitaare Zameen Par, did not opt for the Tuesday discount in their first week, but both took advantage of the offer in subsequent weeks. Dhurandhar is the first film to skip the discount twice, highlighting its exceptional market performance.
An industry expert noted that if the current momentum continues, the film may not offer discounts on future Tuesdays, specifically on December 23 and December 30, 2025. These dates coincide with the holiday season, a period that typically sees increased cinema attendance. This could lead to the Tuesday discount being reintroduced only on January 6, 2026.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, Dhurandhar is directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film’s sequel is set to be released on March 19, 2026.
As the box office continues to reflect strong audience engagement, Dhurandhar is poised to redefine expectations for future film releases. The decision to forgo discounts may pave the way for a new standard in cinema pricing, depending on audience response and box office trends in the weeks to come.
