Uttar Pradesh Achieves 70% of Land Reform Targets for Farmers
The government of Uttar Pradesh has made significant strides in empowering landless farmers and families living below the poverty line through its extensive land reform programmes. As of the financial year 2025–26, the state has achieved approximately 70 percent of its targets, showcasing a commitment to inclusive development under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Revenue Department is actively allocating agricultural land and housing sites to marginal farmers and those without land, facilitating their transition towards self-reliance. During this financial year, the department has distributed 151.80 hectares of agricultural land to 1,076 beneficiaries, accomplishing 69.16 percent of its target. This initiative is expected to bolster the overall agricultural output of Uttar Pradesh while providing essential livelihood security to the beneficiaries.
Housing and Social Dignity for Rural Families
In addition to agricultural land allocations, the Revenue Department is focusing on providing housing sites to families living below the poverty line. Within the same financial year, 3,754 families have received housing plots, fulfilling 70.90 percent of the annual target. This access to land not only ensures shelter but also significantly enhances the social dignity and economic stability of these families.
The programme prioritizes allocations to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, underscoring the government’s dedication to social justice. The distribution of agricultural land and housing plots forms a foundational pillar of Uttar Pradesh’s strategy for inclusive development, ensuring equitable land distribution while promoting economic empowerment and social equity across rural areas.
These land reform initiatives are not only aimed at improving the economic status of landless farmers but also play a crucial role in reinforcing the rural economy of Uttar Pradesh. With the ongoing efforts to achieve the set targets, the state is on a promising path towards creating a more inclusive and prosperous environment for all its citizens.
