Telangana Plans 9-Km Elevated Corridor to Alleviate Traffic Issues
The Telangana State Government has announced plans for a new **9-kilometer elevated corridor** connecting the **Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC)** in Banjara Hills to the **Shilpa Layout Flyover Road**. This initiative, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in key areas, is expected to significantly improve commuting conditions for residents and workers in the region.
Traffic bottlenecks currently experienced on major routes, including **Road Number 45 Jubilee Hills**, **Film Nagar**, and the **Jubilee Hills Checkpost**, are set to be addressed through this project. The elevated corridor will also ease congestion for vehicles heading towards **Meenakshi Towers** and **Hitec City**, areas known for their heavy traffic volume during peak hours.
In addition to benefiting IT employees and staff working in the **Financial District**, the corridor will provide relief to numerous residents living in various housing societies in the vicinity. Commuters traveling to and from **Nanakramguda** will also find improved access to the city via Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.
The **Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)** will oversee the construction of this elevated corridor. An HMDA official stated, “We are also engaging a consultant for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for the construction of the elevated corridor from ICCC to Shilpa Layout Flyover Road.”
This proposed corridor marks the third elevated project initiated by the HMDA, following two other projects from **Paradise Junction to Shamirpet ORR** and **Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road on NH-44**.
The design of the flyover aims to accommodate potential future developments, including a Metro Rail connection between Banjara Hills and Shilpa Layout Flyover Road. To facilitate this, the same pier system used for the elevated corridor will be utilized, ensuring alignment with any future infrastructure.
As part of the planning process, the HMDA plans to conduct studies on various factors, including the number of properties that may need acquisition, environmental impact assessments, and traffic evaluations. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure a thorough analysis of the project’s implications and feasibility.
The construction timeline and budget for the project have yet to be announced, but the government is optimistic about the positive impact this corridor will have on reducing traffic congestion and improving overall urban mobility in Hyderabad.
