Infosys and Cognition Collaborate to Enhance AI Engineer ‘Devin’
Infosys and Cognition announced a strategic partnership on October 25, 2023, aimed at expanding the deployment of the AI software engineer known as Devin across global enterprises. This collaboration will incorporate Devin into Infosys’ internal engineering framework and client engagements worldwide, enhancing operational efficiency and software development processes.
Cognition, the creator of Devin, has designed this AI coding agent to facilitate software engineering tasks. The partnership leverages the capabilities of Infosys Topaz Fabric, a tailored suite of agentic services that integrates infrastructure, models, data, applications, and workflows into a cohesive, agent-ready ecosystem. This integration is expected to streamline operations for clients, ultimately reducing time-to-market and improving developer productivity.
Enhancing Engineering Efficiency
According to the official announcement, Infosys has been utilizing Devin for the past six months, witnessing notable improvements in both engineering quality and efficiency. In response to these positive outcomes, Infosys plans to fully integrate Devin into its internal engineering teams. Furthermore, the AI tool will be embedded within client delivery models, allowing for broader deployment in customer engineering environments.
As part of their strategy to scale adoption, Infosys and Cognition will develop shared engineering frameworks and enablement programs. These initiatives are designed to bring the combined strengths of Infosys Topaz Fabric and Devin to engineers across various industries. The collaboration aims to automate processes related to brownfield engineering, reduce technical debt, and modernize existing systems. Additionally, the partnership seeks to create virtual engineers capable of addressing complex production and maintenance challenges.
Security and Custom Solutions
To facilitate secure and enterprise-grade adoption, Infosys and Cognition will work together to develop industry-specific solutions and AI-native modernization blueprints. The collaboration will also include scalable engineering frameworks, co-innovation labs, and comprehensive enablement programs.
Overall, the partnership between Infosys and Cognition represents a significant step forward in the integration of AI into software engineering, promising to enhance operational capabilities for enterprises globally. The combination of Infosys’ robust infrastructure and Cognition’s innovative AI technology sets the stage for a new era of efficiency in the software development landscape.
