The Congress government in Telangana has successfully filled approximately 70,000 government jobs over the past two years, according to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. During a recent event at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad, he stated that the administration remains committed to filling all remaining vacancies in the near future. This recruitment drive is part of a broader strategy to enhance employment opportunities within both the public and private sectors, particularly for the youth of Telangana.

Reddy emphasized the importance of government employment, stating that it holds significant emotional value in the region. He addressed a gathering where 1,370 Group-3 appointment letters were distributed across 25 departments. He criticized the previous government led by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), alleging a decade-long neglect of job recruitment, which has led to widespread frustration among students and unemployed individuals.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the BRS focused on personal interests over the welfare of Telangana’s youth, which he argues has stifled job creation and opportunities. Reddy recalled the sacrifices made during the Telangana movement and asserted that the Congress government is dedicated to meeting the aspirations of the youth through transparent and timely recruitment processes.

Concerns Over Recruitment Processes

Reddy pointed out the poor performance of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) under the previous administration. He claimed that the commission failed to properly conduct examinations and had not filled Group-I posts for a staggering 14 years. The Congress government announced 563 Group-I posts for 2024, which attracted nearly 500,000 applicants. A similar number applied for 731 Group-II posts, underscoring the serious unemployment crisis in the region.

Allegations emerged that examination question papers were mishandled, and irregularities became commonplace. In response, Reddy declared that the current government has undertaken an extensive overhaul of the TSPSC, implementing best practices akin to those of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and appointing dedicated and competent members to ensure integrity in the recruitment process.

He assured the public that recruitment for essential positions, including DSC teachers and various Group services, is being conducted responsibly and without errors. Despite facing obstacles from opposing forces, the government has engaged in legal battles to ensure that appointment letters are issued to selected candidates promptly.

Focus on Education and Skills Development

Reddy stressed that quality education and skill development are critical to making the youth globally competitive. He urged students and job seekers not to allow themselves to be exploited by opposition parties seeking political gains. He reiterated that education has the power to transform lives and that government employees serve as vital links between the public and the government.

He expressed a bold vision for the future, stating that the government aims to position Telangana as a $3 trillion economy by 2047. As part of this goal, Reddy emphasized that new recruits will play a crucial role in rebuilding the state, aligning their efforts with the broader economic ambitions of Telangana.

Through these efforts, the Congress government is not only addressing the immediate needs of job seekers but is also laying the groundwork for a more robust and resilient economy in the years to come.
