Suzlon Secures Major 838 MW Wind Power Order from Tata Power

Suzlon Group has secured its second-largest order in history, partnering with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. for an impressive 838 megawatt (MW) wind power project. This initiative, part of Tata Power’s Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) program, involves the installation of 266 wind turbines, each rated at 3.15 MW, across the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
This significant order highlights the longstanding partnership between Suzlon and Tata Power, which has persisted for over a decade. According to Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, “Our partnership, spanning more than a decade and marked by the third repeat order, underscores our shared commitment to India’s energy transition.”
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. aims to enhance its renewable energy capacity through this project, aligning with India’s broader goals for sustainable energy development. The turbines will be installed in various locations, utilizing Suzlon’s extensive expertise in wind energy solutions.
The recent order adds to Suzlon’s already substantial portfolio, which includes a total installed wind energy capacity of 21 gigawatts (GW) across 17 countries. This order is particularly noteworthy as it follows Suzlon’s largest project to date, a 1,544 MW order from NTPC Green Energy.
Suzlon operates multiple research and development centers in countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India, and maintains manufacturing facilities primarily in India. This international presence underscores the company’s commitment to advancing renewable energy technologies and supporting global efforts against climate change.
With the recent order from Tata Power, Suzlon is poised to significantly contribute to India’s renewable energy goals, further establishing its role as a leader in the industry. The installation of these wind turbines is expected to enhance the energy landscape in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, promoting cleaner energy production for millions of residents.
In summary, this landmark agreement not only reinforces the collaboration between Suzlon and Tata Power but also marks a pivotal step in India’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future.
