Karnataka Government Unveils Ambitious Textile Policy 2025–30

In a significant initiative to boost the textile sector, the Karnataka government will soon launch its new Textile Policy 2025–30. Announced by Shivanand Patil, the Minister for Textiles, Sugarcane Development, Sugar, and Agricultural Marketing, this policy aims to attract substantial investments and create nearly 200,000 job opportunities within the state.
The announcement came following a high-level consultative meeting held at Vidhana Soudha, where Minister Patil engaged with legislators, including MLAs and MLCs, as well as key stakeholders from the textile industry. The meeting focused on gathering insights and recommendations to shape the policy effectively.
Minister Patil expressed a positive response to stakeholders’ requests to incorporate non-leather footwear and shoe industries into the new framework. He stated, “All suggestions received today will be given due weightage.” This approach demonstrates the government’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment within the industry.
In addition to addressing immediate industry needs, Minister Patil highlighted the establishment of a textile research centre in Belagavi. This centre is expected to become a hub for innovation and development, further enhancing the state’s position in the textile market.
The Minister emphasized that efforts to develop the textile sector are already underway. He pointed out that the government is taking proactive steps to create a conducive environment for industrial growth, which aligns with the objectives of the new policy.
As Karnataka prepares to unveil this ambitious textile policy, industry stakeholders remain hopeful that the initiatives will lead to a revitalization of the sector, ultimately benefitting the local economy and creating new employment opportunities. With the textile industry being a significant contributor to Karnataka’s economic landscape, the focus on innovation and investment could pave the way for a sustainable future.
