Litton Das Leads Bangladesh to Victory Over Hong Kong in Asia Cup Opener
Bangladesh secured a convincing victory against Hong Kong, winning by seven wickets in their first match of the Asia Cup on March 7, 2025. Captain Litton Das played a pivotal role in the match, scoring 59 runs off 39 balls, steering his team towards a successful chase of 144 runs.
The match took place in a vibrant atmosphere, with the Bangladeshi bowlers demonstrating tight control throughout Hong Kong’s innings. The team managed to restrict Hong Kong to a modest total of just 143 runs. Despite a few promising moments, Hong Kong’s batting lineup struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Bangladeshi bowling attack.
Match Highlights
Hong Kong’s innings began with some early resistance, with Nizakat Khan scoring 30 runs. However, they found it increasingly difficult to score as Tanzim Hasan Sakib took two wickets for 21 runs, supported by Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed, who claimed two wickets each. Hong Kong ultimately finished their innings at 143 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, Bangladesh began their chase with Parvez Hossain Emon providing a quick start by scoring 19 runs off 14 balls. Nevertheless, the team encountered challenges in the middle overs, going 33 balls without a boundary, which put pressure on the batting side.
Captain Das, however, found his rhythm and played a crucial knock. He notably struck a six off Yasim Murtaza in the 15th over, taking Bangladesh closer to their target. That over yielded 16 runs, giving Bangladesh the momentum they needed in the closing stages of the match.
Das was ably supported by Towhid Hridoy, who remained not out at 35 runs from 36 balls. Together, they formed a productive partnership of 95 runs that solidified their position in the match. After Das’s dismissal, Hridoy capped off the innings by hitting the winning run, sealing a well-deserved victory for Bangladesh.
