PUCA Launches ₹50 Crore Scholarship Initiative for J&K Students

The Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) has announced a significant scholarship initiative for students from Jammu & Kashmir, unveiling a scholarship package valued between ₹20 crore and ₹50 crore. This announcement was made during a press conference held at the Press Club of Kashmir on September 7, 2023, in anticipation of the upcoming Education Summit scheduled for September 11, 2023, in Srinagar.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, President of PUCA and Chairman of the Aryans Group of Colleges based in Rajpura, near Chandigarh, detailed the initiative during the press conference. He revealed that approximately 20 leading colleges from Punjab would participate in the summit, each contributing ₹2.5 crore in scholarships aimed at supporting deserving and underprivileged students from J&K in their pursuit of higher education.
Extensive Opportunities for Students
Dr. Kataria emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that it seeks to offer students a broad range of academic opportunities. “This initiative will provide students with extensive opportunities across a wide range of academic streams,” he noted. The summit is expected to attract over 200 education counsellors from across J&K, who will offer guidance on admissions, career choices, and scholarship benefits.
The participating educational institutions include well-known names such as the Aryans Group of Colleges in Chandigarh, Amritsar Group of Colleges, and St. Mary’s Rehabilitation University in Hyderabad, among others. Dr. Kataria highlighted the goal of the summit as not only financial assistance but also inspiration for students to pursue their academic goals with confidence.
Empowering Future Generations
“Through this initiative, PUCA seeks to bridge the gap for students seeking quality education beyond J&K and empower them to achieve their academic and professional aspirations,” Dr. Kataria stated. The focus on holistic support aims to inspire a new generation of learners, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement necessary for success in higher education.
The Education Summit marks a pivotal moment for students in Jammu & Kashmir, providing them with essential tools to navigate their educational journeys. As the event approaches, anticipation builds for the opportunities it will create for aspiring scholars.
