Kurukshetra University Celebrates Faculty Excellence with Awards

On September 5, 2024, Kurukshetra University honoured seven distinguished faculty members with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their exceptional contributions to teaching and research. The awards ceremony, held in conjunction with Teachers’ Day, highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the promotion of innovation within its scholarly community.

The Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, presided over the event and expressed his admiration for the recipients. He stated that these awards not only celebrate individual achievements but also serve to inspire colleagues to strive for excellence in their respective fields.

Acknowledging Distinguished Faculty Achievements

The Lifetime Achievement Award recipients included notable faculty from various departments. Among them were Prof Pawan Kumar Sharma and Prof Sanjeev Arora from the Department of Chemistry, Prof Pradeep Kumar from the Department of Instrumentation, and Prof Dinesh Kumar from the Department of Geophysics. Other honorees included Prof Ashwani Kush from the Institute of Integrated and Honours Studies, Prof Anita Bhatnagar from the Department of Zoology, and Prof Neelam Rani from the Department of Commerce.

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Awards, several faculty members were recognised with the Research Excellence Awards 2024. The ceremony acknowledged achievements across multiple categories, reinforcing the university’s dedication to research and development.

Recognising Research Excellence

The Best Researcher Award for H-Index was awarded to Prof Parveen Kumar from the Department of Chemistry, while Dr Vinita Bhankar, Associate Professor in Biochemistry, received recognition for H-Impact. In the category of Best Publications in Sciences, Prof Neeraj Kumar from the Department of Microbiology was honoured, and Prof Tejinder Sharma from the Department of Commerce received the award for Research Projects in Non-Sciences.

Furthermore, Dr Ashish Prasad, Assistant Professor in Botany, was awarded for his contributions to Research Projects in Sciences. Dr Satish Kumar, Assistant Professor in Social Work, was recognised for Projects in Non-Sciences, while Prof Neera Raghav from the Department of Chemistry received the award for Research Collaboration. Lastly, Prof Jitendra Bhardwaj from Zoology was acknowledged for his work on Patents.

The event served as a reminder of the critical role that educators and researchers play in advancing knowledge and fostering an environment of learning and growth. As these faculty members were celebrated, they exemplified the spirit of dedication and commitment that Kurukshetra University seeks to instil in its academic community.
