Banks Open on August 30; September Schedule Includes Holidays

All private and public banks across India will operate as usual on Saturday, August 30, 2025, according to the official holiday calendar from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The RBI designates the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of each month as working days for banks. However, customers should note that banks will be closed on Sunday, August 31.
As September approaches, customers should prepare for multiple bank holidays due to various regional and religious observances. In particular, significant dates include **Karma Puja**, **First Onam**, and **Id-E-Milad**, among others.
September Bank Holidays Across India
The following is a detailed list of bank holidays in September 2025:
– **September 3**: Banks will be closed in **Jharkhand** for Karma Puja.
– **September 4**: Banks will close in **Kerala** for the First Onam festival.
– **September 5**: A broad range of states—including **Gujarat**, **Mizoram**, **Maharashtra**, **Karnataka**, **Madhya Pradesh**, **Tamil Nadu**, **Uttarakhand**, **Hyderabad**, **Vijayawada**, **Manipur**, **Jammu**, **Uttar Pradesh**, **New Delhi**, **Jharkhand**, **Jammu**, and **Srinagar**—will observe a holiday for Id-E-Milad and Thiruvonam.
– **September 6**: Banks in **Sikkim** and **Chhattisgarh** will be closed for Id-e-Milad (Milad-Un-Nabi) and Indrajatra.
– **September 12**: Banks in **Jammu** and **Srinagar** will observe the Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi.
– **September 22**: Banks in **Rajasthan** will close for Navratra Sthapna.
– **September 23**: A holiday is observed in **Jammu** and **Srinagar** for the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
– **September 29**: Banks in **Tripura**, **Assam**, and **West Bengal** will close for Maha Saptami/Durga Puja.
– **September 30**: Multiple states, including **Tripura**, **Odisha**, **Assam**, **Manipur**, **Rajasthan**, **West Bengal**, **Bihar**, and **Jharkhand**, will close for Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami/Durga Puja.
Digital Banking Services Remain Available
While physical branches will be closed on these holidays, digital banking services will remain fully operational. Customers can utilize the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), mobile banking applications for online transactions, and ATMs for cash withdrawals, ensuring that financial needs can still be met without interruption.
It is advisable for customers to plan their banking activities ahead of these holidays to avoid any inconveniences.
