SATH Selects Ashmeet Singh as Vice-President Candidate for PUCSC
Chandigarh is gearing up for the upcoming Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections as the student body SATH has announced its candidate for the vice-president position. Ashmeet Singh was declared the official candidate during a lively gathering on campus, characterized by enthusiastic sloganeering and active student participation.
The announcement highlights SATH’s efforts to regain a foothold in the council, having last held a position in 2023 when their candidate, Ranmeekjot Kaur, secured the vice-president role. Since then, the organization has faced internal challenges, leading to a drift among its members.
Harmanpreet Singh, the election in-charge, emphasized the organization’s mission since its inception in 2017 as a discussion group focused on issues pertinent to Punjab. He noted that SATH draws inspiration from the legacy of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, which informs their approach to student representation and advocacy.
In his address to supporters, Ashmeet Singh expressed his commitment to addressing student expectations and aspirations. He called on fellow students to lend their support in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in driving positive change on campus.
The elections are expected to attract significant interest from the student body, with various organizations vying for leadership positions. As the campaign progresses, SATH aims to reconnect with students and present a unified front in pursuit of their goals.
As the date for the PUCSC elections draws closer, all eyes will be on how SATH positions itself against its competitors and whether it can successfully navigate the challenges it has faced in recent years.
