Andhra Pradesh Allocates ₹51.75 Crore to Enhance Health Facilities

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a significant investment of ₹51.75 crore aimed at upgrading basic amenities at nine Community Health Centres (CHCs) across the state. This initiative, confirmed by Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, is designed to enhance medical services for patients, ensuring better healthcare accessibility.
The targeted CHCs are located in Amudalavalasa, Chodavaram, Kamkipadu, Ponnuru, Kanigiri, Udayagiri, Chennur (Kadapa), Pathikonda, and Kalyanadurgam. The enhancements will include the construction of additional wards, diagnostic and out-patient blocks, blood testing centres, operation theatres, and mortuaries. Minister Yadav emphasized that these developments respond to the growing demands from both out-patients and in-patients.
In addition to these nine centres, the government is also committed to improving facilities in 173 CHCs across the state, further demonstrating its dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
Local Protests Over District Reorganization
In a related political development, leaders from the Telugu Desam Party, YSRC, BJP, and various people’s organizations staged a rally in Veldurthi to demand that the mandal remains part of Kurnool district. Following the recent reorganization that merged the Pathikonda constituency into the proposed Adoni district, locals expressed concern over the potential relocation of Veldurthi.
The rally commenced at the old bus stand, where participants paid tribute to the statues of Telugu Talli and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Demonstrators marched to the tahsildar’s office to submit a representation to tahsildar Chandrasekhar Varma, urging the government to keep Veldurthi within Kurnool. TD leader Subbarayudu announced that another representation would be submitted to a visiting ministerial team on September 29, encouraging public participation.
Allegations of Political Targeting by YSRC
In a separate incident, senior leaders from the YSRC, including regional coordinator Karumuri Nageswara Rao and MLC Parvathireddy Chandrasekhar Reddy, raised concerns about alleged politically motivated cases against their party members. They gathered at the Nellore district SP office to deliver a memorandum demanding the cessation of what they termed “false cases” following former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent visit to the district.
Nageswara Rao accused the current coalition government of targeting YSRC leaders through arrests and police intimidation. He noted that thousands had attended Reddy’s visit voluntarily, and now many are facing legal action, which he claims reflects a vindictive approach by the government.
Chandrasekhar Reddy highlighted that over 25 cases have been filed, including serious charges against former MLA Ramireddy Prathap Kumar Reddy, a two-time legislator known for his public service. The YSRC leaders warned that the misuse of police for suppression could instill fear among the public and suggested that the party might escalate its protests if the situation persists.
Legal Action Following Alleged Attack on Forest Staff
In another significant development, police in Kurnool have registered a case against Jana Sena leader Ashok Routh and legislator Budda Rajasekhar Reddy following allegations of an attack on forest staff. The incident occurred when forest officers stopped the vehicles of the leaders on the night of September 26.
The police report indicates that four staff members from the forest department were involved, and the leaders were charged under several sections for obstructing public servants and causing injuries. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan have expressed their discontent with the incident and have directed law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation.
Bank Cooperation Requested for Law Enforcement
In a related area of governance, DGP (CID) Dr. Ravi Shankar Ayyannar has called for enhanced cooperation from banks in Andhra Pradesh to assist law enforcement in addressing ongoing banking fraud issues. During a meeting in Mangalagiri, he emphasized the importance of timely cooperation in resolving pending complaints and facilitating investigations into unresolved fraud cases.
Dr. Ayyannar highlighted specific provisions under the Prevention of Corruption Act, which require prior approvals for investigating public servants. He noted that there are currently 98 petitions pending under Section 17(A) and 38 under Section 19(1), which hinder the registration of FIRs and subsequent legal actions.
The DGP urged banks to streamline their processes, offering examples of necessary documentation such as pending KYC forms and suspicious transaction reports. He also reminded citizens of the Cybercrime helpline 1930 and an online portal for reporting financial fraud, stressing the need for ongoing collaboration between banks and law enforcement.
YSRC to Support NDA Vice-President Candidate
Lastly, in political news, YSRC leader and MLC Botsa Satyanarayana announced the party’s support for NDA Vice-President candidate Radhakrishnan. In a press conference, Satyanarayana stated that the YSRC believes there is no “number game” in constitutional elections for positions like President and Vice-President.
He pointed out that the NDA already possesses a sufficient majority to ensure its candidate’s victory. Satyanarayana recalled that during his time as Pradesh Congress Committee president, the YSRC had previously supported the Congress candidate Pranab Mukherjee, demonstrating a commitment to bipartisan cooperation.
Moreover, he criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for attempting to rally support for a Telugu candidate, stating that such appeals are unlikely to gain traction. Satyanarayana emphasized that Radhakrishnan’s candidacy represents South Indian interests.
The recent developments in Andhra Pradesh reflect a dynamic political landscape as officials and citizens navigate significant changes in healthcare, governance, and local administration.
