Delhi University Launches Third Round of Admissions for 2025-26

The competition for undergraduate seats at Delhi University continues as the institution initiates the third round of admissions for the 2025-26 academic session. This phase, conducted under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), introduces several new features aimed at enhancing accessibility for students.
One of the significant updates in this round is the option for seat upgradation. Students who received placements in the first or second rounds can now modify their course-college preferences, hoping to secure a more desirable option. The window for this modification opened at 17:00 IST on August 2 and closed at 16:59 IST on August 3. Results for the upgraded seat allocations will be announced on August 5 at 17:00 IST, followed by an approval process by colleges that will last until 16:59 IST on August 6. Students who receive upgraded seats must finalize their admission by completing the fee payment by August 7 at 16:59 IST.
In an effort to accommodate late applicants, the university has also introduced a mid-entry application window. This will be open from August 8 to August 10, allowing those who missed earlier rounds the opportunity to apply. This new feature is particularly beneficial for students who faced unforeseen circumstances preventing them from registering in the initial phases.
Moreover, the activation of category-based applications marks another crucial enhancement. Eligible candidates can now apply under their respective reservation categories, making the admission process more inclusive and ensuring that a wider range of students can access higher education opportunities.
Reflecting on the previous round of admissions, a total of 87,335 students received placements across various colleges and programs. This included 24,843 new allocations and 27,314 upgradations, highlighting significant movement from the first allocation list. Additionally, 17,922 candidates opted to freeze their existing seats, indicating a calculated approach to securing their educational paths.
As Delhi University continues to refine its admissions process, these changes aim to enhance accessibility for prospective students, providing more options for placement while accommodating those who may have faced challenges in earlier rounds. The upcoming announcements and adjustments are likely to further shape the landscape of undergraduate education in the region.
