Supriya Menon Names Online Troll After Years of Harassment

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s wife, Supriya Menon, has publicly named an online troll who has harassed her since 2018. In a bold move on her Instagram Stories, she exposed the individual, sharing her profile photo and the handle @christinaeldo. This action comes after years of enduring derogatory comments and the creation of fake accounts aimed at her.
In her post, Supriya detailed the extent of the harassment, stating, “She has been passing nasty comments on most accounts that post something about me. I continued to block her.” Supriya revealed that she had identified the troll years ago but initially chose to remain silent out of consideration for the woman’s young son. However, the situation escalated, prompting her to take action. Supriya expressed her frustration, saying, “Even that filter she has on is not enough to hide the ugliness she holds inside and has spewed at me since 2018.”
The troll, identified as Christina Eldo, also known as Christina Babu Kurien, is a Malayali nurse residing in the United States. Reports indicate that Supriya felt compelled to call out Christina after she made offensive remarks regarding Supriya’s late father. Earlier in 2023, Supriya hinted at the possibility of pursuing legal action due to the inappropriate remarks made about her family.
Supriya Menon’s Career and Personal Journey
Supriya Menon, a former journalist based in Mumbai, has made significant strides in the film industry. She married Malayalam film superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran in 2011, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Alankrita, in 2014. Currently, she serves as a film producer and leads Prithviraj Productions, the company owned by her husband.
Despite her professional achievements, Supriya has often grappled with her identity in the public eye. In an interview with Film Companion South, she shared her desire to be recognized as an individual rather than merely as the wife of a famous actor. “I achieved my professional position without anyone’s recommendation. It was a job and career I earned on my own,” she stated. “But now, as a producer, there are many privileges. Everyone now knows me as the wife of Prithviraj.”
Supriya emphasized the importance of creating her own identity. “I don’t want to be known as ‘his wife’, ‘his mother’, or ‘his daughter’. I am preparing to create my own name. The reason I have confidence is my father. My parents didn’t raise me in a cage. They gave me the courage to create my own wings and fly.”
Through her experience, Supriya Menon shines a light on the challenges faced by women in the public eye and the impact of online harassment. Her decision to confront her troll not only serves as a personal stand against bullying but also highlights broader issues related to social media conduct and the importance of supporting one another in the face of adversity.
