Haryana’s CET Concludes Successfully with Remarkable Support

The two-day Common Eligibility Test (CET) conducted by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) concluded successfully on March 10, 2024. Over 90% of the registered candidates attended the exam at approximately 3,000 centres across the state. The event was marked by efficient administration and minimal incidents of irregularities, showcasing a significant achievement for the government led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

In a statement to reporters in Panchkula, Chief Minister Saini commended the collaborative efforts of government officials and employees throughout Haryana. He highlighted how the CET exemplified effective governance, saying, “The smooth and efficient conduct of the CET was made possible due to teamwork.” This successful administration involved coordination among various sectors, including public transport, security, and volunteer support.

Supportive Initiatives Enhance Candidate Experience

Officials and volunteers played vital roles in facilitating the exam process. The Haryana Roadways provided public transport arrangements, while police personnel ensured safety and assistance at exam centres. Notably, Himmat Singh, the HSSC chairman, along with Transport Minister Anil Vij, personally inspected arrangements, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring a seamless experience for candidates.

Instances of compassion were evident during the event. In Panchkula, Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Gupta dispatched her escort vehicle to assist a candidate who mistakenly arrived at the wrong centre. In Rohtak, police officers supported a differently-abled candidate, providing a wheelchair to help him reach his exam room.

“We are compiling a list of such Samaritans—officials and employees who went beyond their duties to help candidates. We will not only recognise their service but also recommend that the state government honour them,” said Himmat Singh, acknowledging the dedication of those involved.

Community Efforts Provide Additional Support

Community organizations also contributed significantly to the candidates’ well-being. The Vaishno Sewa Samiti set up camps outside key examination venues in Kaithal, offering refreshments and comfort facilities for visitors. These efforts included providing tents, chairs, coolers, and fans to enhance the experience for those attending.

A remarkable act of kindness occurred in Karnal, where Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashok Kumar stepped in to assist a candidate named Renu Devi, who was injured in a motorcycle accident on her way to the exam. Kumar ensured she received first aid and personally drove her to the exam centre, allowing her to take the test. Renu Devi and her husband expressed deep gratitude towards the SDM and the district administration for their support.

Furthermore, in Narnaul and Mahendragarh, volunteers from the District Red Cross Society offered assistance to hundreds of candidates, particularly those with disabilities, enhancing accessibility at the exam centres.

The successful execution of the CET not only highlights the effectiveness of the Haryana government but also illustrates the power of community spirit and teamwork in overcoming challenges. The collaborative efforts of officials, volunteers, and local organizations created a supportive environment for candidates, ensuring that the examination process was both efficient and compassionate.
