Australia-India Youth Dialogue 2025 Set for Mumbai and Delhi

The 2025 Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD) will take place from September 15-18 in Mumbai and New Delhi, focusing on “The Future of Leadership.” This annual event brings together young leaders from both nations to engage in discussions surrounding the evolving nature of leadership across various sectors, including politics, business, and the arts.

Announced on September 15, the AIYD will feature a diverse cohort of 30 young leaders, with 15 participants from Australia and 15 from India. Delegates will participate in a series of discussions designed to foster collaboration and strengthen connections between the two countries.

For over a decade, the AIYD has been a platform for emerging leaders to connect, share ideas, and address pressing bilateral issues. The dialogue alternates between Australia and India, providing a unique opportunity for young individuals to collaborate on initiatives that matter to their generation.

Diverse Cohort of Emerging Leaders

This year’s group of Australian delegates includes notable figures such as Bharat Sundaresan, a cricket commentator and writer; Clare Murphy, a business development adviser; and Tim Christodoulou, government affairs lead at Sydney Airport. The Indian cohort features a range of talents, including Alicia Souza, an illustrator; Deepthi Bopaiah, CEO of GoSports Foundation; and Saswati Das, a physician-scientist.

AIYD Co-Chairs Michelle Jasper and Bindu Subranium highlighted the significance of the dialogue in shaping future leadership. “Whether it’s climate, digital disruption, social cohesion, or shifting geopolitical dynamics, AIYD is a space where young leaders exchange ideas and form partnerships that last well beyond the Dialogue itself,” Jasper stated.

Subranium emphasized the importance of human connections in the Australia-India relationship, noting that the AIYD serves as a critical venue for young leaders to forge lasting collaborations during a time of global change.

Support and Future Directions

The AIYD is supported by a network of partners committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders. This year, key sponsors include Global Victoria, the Centre for Australia India Relations, and Deakin University. The Western Sydney University will also host various events as part of the dialogue.

Since its inception in 2012, more than 300 young leaders have participated in the AIYD, forming a network that includes cabinet ministers, CEOs, and renowned professionals across multiple sectors. This extensive network underscores the dialogue’s role in identifying and connecting future leaders who can address the challenges of the coming decade.

With a continued focus on leadership evolution, the AIYD is poised to make a significant impact on the bilateral relationship between Australia and India, underscoring the opportunities created by collaboration and dialogue among young leaders.
