Veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently shared his perspectives on the challenges faced by modern marriages during an interview with Pinkvilla. Married to Mana Shetty since 1991, Shetty highlighted the increasing impatience and external pressures that couples encounter today.

In his candid remarks, Shetty noted that contemporary relationships often lack the patience required to thrive. He remarked, “Aaj kal bachon mein patience hai hi nahi,” emphasizing that marriage evolves into a journey of understanding and compromise. He explained that after a certain point, marriage becomes “ek samjhauta hota hai,” meaning a compromise that requires partners to understand and support each other.

The actor also addressed the changing dynamics of partnerships after becoming parents. “Phir ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bache ko main dekh rahi hoon,” he explained, suggesting that while both parents contribute, the pressures are significantly higher in today’s society.

Shetty pointed out the influence of the internet, stating that there is an overwhelming amount of unsolicited advice available online about parenting and relationships. “Everyone wants to tell you how to be a parent, what to eat, and what to do,” he said. Instead, Shetty advocates learning through personal experience, drawing insights from family members such as grandmothers and mothers. He expressed concern over the trend of couples facing challenges even before they marry, lamenting that some are “getting divorced even before the wedding takes place.”

Looking back on his own journey, Shetty’s marriage to Mana was not without its challenges. Coming from different communities, their relationship initially faced opposition from his parents. Nevertheless, their commitment prevailed, and they married around the time of the release of his debut film, Balwaan, despite concerns that an early marriage could impact his career image.

The couple has two children, Athiya Shetty and Ahan Shetty, both of whom are now making their mark in the entertainment industry.

On the professional front, Suniel Shetty was last seen in the film Kesari Veer, alongside co-stars Vivek Oberoi and Sooraj Pancholi. His insights into marriage reflect a broader conversation about the evolving nature of relationships in the contemporary world, emphasizing the importance of understanding and patience in nurturing lasting bonds.
