UPSC Declares Results for Civil Services Examination 2025

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) for 2025 on March 6, 2026. This comprehensive examination is a key gateway for candidates aspiring to join various civil services in India.

The initial phase of the examination, the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, took place on May 25, 2025. Of the **9,37,876** candidates who applied, **5,76,793** actually took the exam. Following this, **14,161** candidates qualified for the Written (Main) Examination, which was conducted in August 2025. Ultimately, **2,736** candidates advanced to the Personality Test stage of the selection process.

In a significant achievement, the UPSC recommended **958 candidates** for appointment to various services. Among these, the top five candidates included one woman and four men. The highest rank was secured by **Anuj Agnihotri**, who achieved the first position with Medical Science as his optional subject. Agnihotri graduated with an MBBS degree from the **All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)** in Jodhpur.

Following him, **Rajeshwari Suve M**, a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from **Anna University, Chennai**, claimed the second rank, opting for Sociology as her subject. The third position went to **Akansh Dhull**, a B.Com graduate from the **University of Delhi**, who chose Commerce and Accountancy for his examination.

The fourth rank was obtained by **Raghav Jhunjhunwala**, holding a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the **University of Delhi**, while **Ishan Bhatnagar**, who completed his B.A. LLB (Hons.) from **National Law University, Delhi**, rounded out the top five with Sociology as his optional subject.

Top Performers and Diversity Among Candidates

The top 25 candidates featured a commendable representation of **11 women** and **14 men**. Their educational backgrounds include degrees in various fields such as Engineering, Humanities, Science, Commerce, Law, Medical Science, and Mass Media from prestigious institutions including the **Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT)**, **National Law University (NLU)**, and **Delhi Technological University (DTU)**.

These successful candidates chose a diverse range of optional subjects in the Written (Main) Examination, including Anthropology, Chemistry, Political Science and International Relations, and Public Administration.

The recommended candidates also showcased inclusivity, with **42** individuals identified as Persons with Benchmark Disability. This group includes **10** orthopedically handicapped, **14** visually challenged, **9** hearing impaired, and **9** with multiple disabilities.

The announcement of these results marks a crucial step for many aspiring civil servants in India, underscoring the rigorous selection process and the diverse talent pool that the UPSC continues to cultivate.
