Kurukshetra University Board Meeting Drives Research and Innovation

A recent meeting of the Academic Planning Board at Kurukshetra University focused on enhancing academic innovation and expanding research initiatives. Chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, the gathering addressed critical topics such as industry-academia collaboration and the alignment of the university’s academic framework with the objectives set out in the National Education Policy 2020.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for a flexible, multidisciplinary approach to education that prioritizes research-oriented learning. He underscored the importance of skill-based and employment-oriented education, which is increasingly vital in today’s job market. Strengthening the digital learning infrastructure and expanding international academic partnerships were also highlighted as key priorities.

During the meeting, Dr Jimmy Sharma, deputy director of Public Relations at Kurukshetra University, announced the formal release of a monograph titled ‘IPR Law and IPR Management’, authored by Dr Dhanpat Ram Agrawal. This publication reflects the university’s commitment to fostering academic research and enhancing intellectual property awareness.

Participants included notable figures such as Prof Baldev Raj Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, and Dr Sanjay Kaushik, Vice-Chancellor of Gurugram University. They provided valuable insights on improving educational quality, promoting innovation, and bolstering startup culture within higher education.

The board made several key decisions during the session, including the introduction of new professional and skill-based courses. There was a concerted effort to encourage more research projects as well as to improve transparency and efficiency in the examination system. Coordinating efforts with affiliated colleges also emerged as a priority, aimed at enhancing the academic experience for students.

The meeting concluded with a unified commitment from all members to elevate the academic standards of Kurukshetra University. Senior officials present included Registrar Prof Virender Pal, Dean Academic Affairs Prof Rakesh Kumar, and Dean of Research and Development Prof Sanjeev Agrawal, among others. Their collective focus remains on the holistic development of students and fostering an environment conducive to innovation and excellence in education.
