Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved the allocation of ₹5.39 crore for the construction of an Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at the Doon Helidrome, located in Tarla Nagal, Dehradun district. This decision is part of a broader initiative to enhance infrastructure and public services across the state.

On October 12, 2023, the Chief Minister sanctioned additional funding of ₹2.35 crore from the State Contingency Fund. This amount is aimed at supporting the implementation of the “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar” campaign, which seeks to promote government services at the grassroots level.

Investment in Disaster Management and Public Facilities

The Chief Minister’s Office has reported that, in light of improving disaster preparedness, ₹10.66 crore has been allocated to the Disaster Management Department. This funding will be used to upgrade communication systems in the financial year 2025-26, ensuring better response capabilities during emergencies.

In addition, plans are underway to construct high-tech toilet facilities in the Kashipur Municipal Corporation area. This includes a seven-seater facility at Tanda Tiraha, estimated to cost ₹63.32 lakh, a nine-seater facility at Chaiti Tiraha for ₹69.82 lakh, and another similar facility at Chaiti Mela Ground costing ₹76.87 lakh.

Furthermore, ₹1.58 crore has been approved for the construction of a Nagar Panchayat office building in Tapovan, Tehri Garhwal. An additional ₹11.31 lakh has been allocated for the first phase of a multi-storey parking facility near Deval Bazaar (Taxi Stand) in Deval Block, under the Tharali Assembly constituency.

Honoring Local Heroes

In a symbolic gesture, the Chief Minister has also approved the renaming of the Kunigad-Hiruli Bazaar to Rampur-Chaukhutiya motor road in Chaukhutiya Block, Almora district. The road will be named in honor of martyr Subedar Bhawanidatt Joshi, who received the Sena Medal for his bravery.

These initiatives reflect Uttarakhand’s commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing public amenities, and honoring local heroes while ensuring a more resilient community in the face of potential disasters.
