New Zealand Triumphs Over India in 4th T20I, Dube Shines Bright
New Zealand secured a commanding victory against Team India in the fourth T20I match, winning by 50 runs at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The “Black Caps” set a formidable target, scoring a total of 215 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response, the “Men in Blue” faltered during their run chase, bowled out for 165 runs in just 18.4 overs.
Shivam Dube, the all-rounder for India, showcased his batting prowess with a blistering knock of 65 runs off only 23 deliveries. His innings featured three boundaries and an impressive seven sixes, providing a brief spark of hope amidst the team’s struggle. Reflecting on his performance, Dube noted that he has been diligently practicing for such high-pressure situations and is focused on enhancing his mindset.
“I am getting better with my mindset because I am playing all those matches now and batting in situations like these,” Dube stated. He attributed his improved performance to the guidance of Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, and captain Suryakumar Yadav, who have encouraged him to develop his bowling skills in addition to his batting.
Dube also recounted a notable moment during his innings when he faced spinner Ish Sodhi in the twelfth over. He unleashed a barrage of aggressive shots, scoring 29 runs in that over alone, which included three sixes and two fours. “There was no game plan as such; it was a case of me trusting my instincts,” he explained. “I knew even he was a little scared and could bowl a few bad ones. I wanted to dominate at that point and I could.”
This match marked New Zealand’s first win in the series, which is currently led by India with a score of 3-1. The series has seen some exciting performances, but the hosts have maintained a strong advantage.
Looking ahead, the fifth and final T20I between Team India and New Zealand is set to take place on January 31 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. As the series continues, fans will be eager to see if India can secure the series with another win or if New Zealand can build on their recent success.
