Sonakshi Sinha Celebrates 15 Years in Film Industry with New Role

editorial

Sonakshi Sinha is marking her 15-year journey in the film industry with the release of her brother’s debut directorial project, Nikita Roy. Contrary to assumptions that her participation stems solely from family ties, Sinha emphasizes that it was the film’s engaging narrative that piqued her interest. She stated, “I went on set thinking we might have our sibling squabbles. It was professional. On set, I was the actor, and he was the director.”

The film, which also stars Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal, and Suhail Nayyar, centers on an author whose skepticism about the supernatural is challenged by unforeseen events. Originally scheduled for release on June 27, 2023, the launch was delayed to avoid competition with Kajol’s film Maa. Sinha supports this decision, remarking, “This was the producers’ call because, at the end of the day, it’s their money invested. When things are cluttered, there is no point in coming and not getting the shows we expected. It was a wise business decision.”

When questioned about the influence of leading actresses in such decisions, Sinha noted, “It depends from film to film. I can’t speak for others, but I don’t like to get into that space. My work is to be on set, do my job in front of the camera, and go home.”

Over the years, Sinha’s choice of roles has evolved significantly. She has transitioned from starring in mainstream masala films like Dabangg (2010) and R…Rajkumar (2013) to more nuanced, content-driven roles in recent projects such as Dahaad (2023) and the upcoming Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024).

As she anticipates the second seasons of these series, Sinha expresses a desire for challenging roles. “I want anything that is different from what I’ve done before and that challenges me. Those are my checkboxes. You pick and choose from what comes your way. But after doing good work, you’re in a position to say, ‘I deserve better than this’,” she explained.

Reflecting on her career thus far, Sinha stated, “I’ve grown up in front of the camera. It’s been a wholesome journey — the good, the bad, the ugly. The good thing is, Bollywood doesn’t have the power to devastate me because I see my work as a part of life. My whole life doesn’t revolve around it. There’s a lot to life outside of work. So, nothing has the power to devastate me in that way.”

With her evolving career trajectory and a commitment to meaningful storytelling, Sonakshi Sinha continues to carve a distinctive path in the film industry. As she embraces new challenges, her reflections offer insight into the resilience and adaptability required to thrive in the competitive world of cinema.

Sonakshi Sinha Shines as Detective in ‘Nikita Roy’ Mystery Thriller

editorial

Published

The new film Nikita Roy, which premiered on September 29, 2023, features Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role, showcasing her talents in a supernatural mystery thriller. Directed by Kussh Sinha, this film attempts to intertwine elements of detective fiction with horror, drawing influences from iconic characters such as Nancy Drew and Harry Potter.

While the film builds an intriguing narrative filled with suspense, it ultimately falters in delivering consistent scares and a satisfying conclusion. Sinha’s performance is a highlight, as she navigates the complexities of her character with a mix of charm and determination.

The plot centers around Nikita, a young detective who becomes embroiled in a series of supernatural events. As she investigates mysterious occurrences, the film aims to blend thrilling moments with character-driven storytelling. Early scenes effectively establish a sense of unease, drawing viewers into the unfolding mystery.

Despite its engaging premise, Nikita Roy struggles to maintain a cohesive atmosphere. The film features several suspenseful sequences, but the scares often feel predictable. Critics have noted that while the film has an appealing aesthetic, it lacks the depth necessary to elevate its narrative beyond a standard thriller.

A key element of the film is its exploration of the supernatural, which is employed to create tension. The cinematography captures eerie settings that contribute to the film’s overall mood. However, the climax leaves audiences wanting more, as it does not fully capitalize on the suspense built throughout the film.

In a landscape filled with diverse cinematic offerings, Nikita Roy stands out for its ambition. While it may not achieve the heights of its inspirations, the film serves as an entertaining watch for fans of the genre.

Overall, Nikita Roy presents a mix of mystery and supernatural elements, anchored by a commendable performance from Sonakshi Sinha. It may not redefine the genre, but it certainly provides a glimpse into the potential of merging detective narratives with horror. As audiences flock to cinemas, this film is sure to spark discussions about its merits and shortcomings in the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.

Aditya Chopra’s Doubts on Ahaan Panday’s Saiyaara Revealed

editorial

The film Saiyaara, which debuted on July 18, 2025, has quickly become a significant topic of discussion in the entertainment industry. Marking the first major roles for actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the movie is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Productions. Despite its successful opening, recent comments from Suri reveal that Chopra had initial doubts about the film’s viability.

In a candid interview with entertainment news outlet Just Too Filmy, Suri shared the challenges he faced when presenting the film’s storyline to Chopra. According to Suri, the producer expressed concerns about the film’s appeal, stating, “This script is for 25-year-olds. They don’t go to theatres anymore.” Chopra’s skepticism stemmed from a belief that contemporary audiences were primarily drawn to action films, making it a risky time to release a romantic film like Saiyaara.

Suri, however, remained steadfast in his vision for the film. He countered Chopra’s concerns by asserting, “I told him, ‘Sir, let me take the risk.’ I believed in the film and the performances. We weren’t trying to manufacture a hit. It was honest storytelling.” This determination played a crucial role in bringing Saiyaara to fruition, providing Ahaan Panday with a promising launch into the film industry.

Box Office Success of Saiyaara

The opening day performance of Saiyaara has been remarkable. According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the film grossed approximately Rs 17.96 crore on its first day, setting a new benchmark for movies featuring debut actors. As the final figures are still pending, initial reports indicate that Saiyaara has surpassed well-established films such as Sky Force and Sitaare Zameen Par, ranking among the top five highest opening day grossers of 2025.

The strong box office numbers not only reflect the film’s immediate success but also signify a potential shift in audience preferences. The positive reception indicates that there is still a substantial market for romantic narratives, even when competing against more action-oriented titles.

As Saiyaara continues to capture audience attention, it remains to be seen how the film will perform in the coming weeks. The initial success, coupled with the backstory of overcoming production doubts, adds an intriguing layer to its narrative. The film’s journey exemplifies the complexities of filmmaking in a rapidly evolving industry, where creative risks can lead to unexpected rewards.

She emphasized the importance of making the unconventional her own.

A Bold Approach to Film Selection

During a recent interview, Pannu reflected on her journey, stating, “There were only a few of those, like Judwaa 2 or Dunki, where the makers wanted to cast someone who’d add value to the part.” She acknowledged that it took her years to accept that mainstream opportunities were not aligned with her vision. “I had to make the unconventional work my conventional work,” she explained, highlighting her commitment to creating impactful cinema.
