Research Report on Ethical AI Guidelines Released at Amrita Conclave

A significant research report detailing safety and ethical guidelines for artificial intelligence (AI) in critical sectors was launched at the Amritapuri campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. This initiative aims to foster responsible AI adoption across India and the Global South. The report, titled “Principles for Ethical and Safe Agentic AI Orchestration Across Infrastructure Gradients – Safety Guidelines for Critical Sectors in India and the Global South,” was presented during the AI Safety Conclave organized by the AI Safety Research Lab, part of the Amrita Center for Cybersecurity Systems and Networks.

The conclave, themed “Safe AI for the Global South,” set the stage for the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, which will be hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The event attracted a diverse group of influential national and international figures, including Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of IT and CEO of the IndiaAI Mission; Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO; and Avinash Ramtohul, Minister of ICT for Mauritius. Other notable attendees included D. Seshagiri, Director and Scientist at NPOL–DRDO, along with industry leaders such as Ankit Bose, Head of AI at Nasscom, and Vinay Chandran, Partner at Quantum Black, AI by McKinsey.

University officials highlighted that the report exemplifies Amrita’s commitment to establishing robust, ethical, and inclusive AI ecosystems. Designed to guide the responsible and coordinated deployment of agentic AI systems, the document emphasizes the socio-economic and infrastructural realities pertinent to developing regions.

The research outlines core principles and practical frameworks governing AI applications within sectors like healthcare, education, finance, energy, and public services. Key values such as safety, transparency, accountability, and human oversight are central to the guidelines, providing actionable insights for policymakers, technologists, and institutions involved in AI adoption.

In addition to the report launch, the conclave featured expert-led panel discussions focused on cultivating AI ecosystems in healthcare, education, banking, and other critical areas. Delegates engaged in thorough deliberations regarding AI safety and ethics, with the event held in a hybrid format attracting nearly 300 participants. This underscores the increasing global commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence is developed and implemented in a safe, ethical, and trustworthy manner.

The release of this report represents not only a pivotal moment for AI governance in India but also a significant contribution to the discourse on ethical AI practices in emerging economies.
