Truck and Tractor Collision Claims One Life on Naubasta Highway

A fatal collision occurred early Thursday morning on the Naubasta-Ghatampur highway, resulting in one death and three serious injuries. The incident involved a speeding truck and a tractor-trolley loaded with bricks near Maurang Mandi, approximately 25 kilometers from Kanpur.

The deceased has been identified as Anil, a 35-year-old resident of Ramjipurwa in the Bidhnu police station area. He was traveling towards Kanpur in the tractor-trolley driven by Sanjay, aged 45, also from the same village. As the vehicle approached Maurang Mandi, it collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The truck driver, identified as Meraj, 30, from Phulwariya in Bahraich, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Passersby promptly alerted local authorities, who dispatched an ambulance to the scene. The injured individuals were transported to Bidhnoo Community Health Centre. Due to their critical conditions, they were subsequently referred to the district hospital for more intensive care.

Authorities confirmed that Anil’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and his family has been notified of the tragedy. Pradeep Kumar Singh, in charge of the Sen Pashchim Para police station, stated that a case has been registered based on the family’s complaint, and an investigation is currently underway.

The collision caused significant disruptions on the Kanpur-Sagar highway, with traffic stalled for approximately one hour. Police worked to remove the damaged vehicles using a crane, restoring normal traffic flow. Delays extended towards Ramaipur in the direction of Ghatampur and towards Naubasta heading to Kanpur.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region. Authorities will likely implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and maintaining vehicle safety standards.
