Ganadhipa Sankashti Chaturthi: Observe the Sacred Fast on November 11, 2025
The Ganadhipa Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat is scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025. This day is dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha, who is revered as the remover of obstacles and the harbinger of prosperity and happiness. Devotees observe this sacred fast on the Chaturthi Tithi, which falls on the fourth day of the waning phase of the moon, known as Krishna Paksha, during the month of Margashirsha.
On this auspicious day, followers participate in rituals that include fasting and evening prayers. The fast is traditionally concluded after the sighting of the moon, accompanied by offerings made to it.
Key Timings and Rituals
For those observing the fast, crucial timings include the beginning of the Chaturthi Tithi at 01:58 PM on November 11, 2025, and its conclusion at 04:31 PM on November 12, 2025. The moonrise is expected at 07:44 PM on November 11, when devotees will break their fast.
On the day of the vrat, participants are encouraged to wake early, take a bath, and wear clean clothing. The puja, or worship rituals, are performed in the evening. An idol or image of Lord Ganesha is placed on a clean platform. Offerings typically include durva grass, flowers, incense sticks, a lamp (diya), and seasonal fruits. Special treats, such as modaks and laddoos, which are believed to be Lord Ganesha’s favorites, are also included in the offerings.
Devotees recite the Sankashti Chaturthi vrat katha, a narrative about the significance of the fast, and chant mantras dedicated to Ganesha. The fast concludes with an offering known as arghya after the moon is sighted.
Spiritual Significance and Beliefs
Observing the Ganadhipa Sankashti Chaturthi fast is thought to alleviate life’s troubles and fulfill desires. Devotees believe that worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day brings good fortune and positive energy. Chanting specific Ganesha mantras during the rituals is considered beneficial for attracting success and blessings.
This sacred observance not only deepens spiritual connections but also strengthens community ties among those who gather to celebrate and uphold these traditions. As the date approaches, many will prepare to engage in these cherished practices, reflecting on the blessings they seek and the obstacles they hope to overcome.
