Telangana Government Resumes 734 Acres for Musi River Project

The Telangana government has initiated the resumption of **734.07 acres** of government land along the Musi River, a key step in the ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project (MRDP). The land will be transferred to the **Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL)** as part of the government’s efforts to revitalize the river corridor, which is crucial for both environmental sustainability and urban development.

The land being resumed spans several locations, including **Himayathsagar**, **Kismathpur** in Gandipet Mandal, **Premavathipet**, **Budvel** in Rajendranagar Mandal, and **Kothwalguda** in Shamshabad Mandal within the **Rangareddy district**. This initiative aims to address the significant environmental challenges posed by urbanization and pollution that have heavily impacted the Musi River.

Land Transfer and Allocation Details

As part of this land transfer, institutions currently holding the land will receive alternative plots in layouts developed by the **Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)**, located in **Shamshabad** and the **Future City** area. The **Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA)** and the **Rangareddy District Collector** have been tasked with executing the necessary procedures for this transfer.

The breakdown of land being resumed includes **128.39 acres** from the **Telangana State Engineering Research Laboratory**, **219.09 acres** from the **Water and Land Management Training and Research Institute (WALAMTARI)**, **41.27 acres** from the **Indian Institute of Public Health**, and **99.05 acres** from the **Extension Training Centre (VDOTC)**. Additional land in **Kothwalguda**, encompassing the HMDA Eco Park and tourism department holdings, is also included in this initiative.

It is important to note that this land transfer is contingent upon the outcomes of ongoing litigations, as well as compliance with the **X Schedule** of the **Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014**. The process must also adhere to established alienation norms under **GOMs No. 571** dated **September 1, 2012**, and the usual terms and conditions outlined in **Board Standing Orders (BSO)-23** and **BSO-24**.
