Indian Expat Wins Record Dh100 Million Jackpot in UAE Lottery
Anilkumar Bolla, a 29-year-old Indian expatriate residing in Abu Dhabi, has made headlines after winning a staggering Dh100 million in the UAE Lottery. This remarkable achievement marks the largest jackpot ever awarded in the country, a momentous event that took place on October 18, 2023, during the 23rd Lucky Day Draw.
Details of the Winning Draw
Bolla matched all seven numbers in the winning combination, defying odds of 1 in 8,835,372. His life changed in an instant when he received the winning phone call from the UAE Lottery team while relaxing at home. “I was sitting on the sofa and this feeling that, yes, I won it,” Bolla shared. “When I received the call, I thought it was surreal. I kept asking them to repeat the message. It took time to sink in, and even today, I still can’t believe my new reality.”
As the sole winner of the Dh100 million jackpot, Bolla becomes the first individual in the history of the UAE Lottery to take home such a substantial prize on his own. The October 18 draw also featured ten other winners, each receiving Dh100,000.
A Milestone for the UAE Lottery
The UAE Lottery, since its inception, has produced over 200 winners of Dh100,000, with players collectively claiming over Dh147 million in prizes. The recent draw not only set a new record but also showcased the lottery’s increasing popularity in the region. Organisers described the event as a “milestone moment” for the UAE Lottery.
A teaser clip released by the UAE Lottery on Instagram featured the audio of the winning call, showing Bolla’s stunned reaction to the life-changing news. The post generated considerable excitement online, leading to widespread speculation about the winner’s identity.
Bolla chose his winning numbers based on personal significance. He utilized an Easy Pick option and specifically included the number 11, which corresponds to his mother’s birthday. “Those numbers were special to me,” he explained. “I had no idea it would become the key to this win.” The win coincided with Diwali, India’s festival of lights, which he described as an “exceptional blessing.”
Plans for the Future
With newfound wealth, Bolla has ambitious plans. “This sum will change my life forever,” he stated, expressing his intention to purchase a supercar and enjoy a month-long stay at a seven-star hotel. He aims to use this time to adjust to his new reality and plan for his financial future carefully.
Long-term, Bolla hopes to bring his parents to the UAE and fulfill their dreams. “My mom and dad had very small dreams, and I want to fulfill all the dreams, whatever they have, and I want to take care of them,” he said.
In addition to personal aspirations, Bolla is committed to philanthropy. He plans to donate a portion of his winnings to charitable causes, believing that such contributions will genuinely help those in need. “I believe that everything happens for a reason,” he remarked, encouraging fellow players to keep trying their luck.
Bolla expressed gratitude to the UAE Lottery, stating, “I really want to thank you guys for giving me this very big opportunity, and I hope this will continue for years.” His remarkable win not only changes his life but also highlights the transformative power of the UAE Lottery, which continues to create opportunities for players across the nation.
