Modi Welcomes Mongolia’s President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, in New Delhi on March 5, 2024. The two leaders engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and participated in a symbolic act of planting a sapling together at the Hyderabad House.
This meeting marks a significant moment for both nations, reflecting their longstanding diplomatic relationship. President Ukhnaa, who arrived in India for a four-day state visit, laid a wreath at Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi earlier in the day. He also signed the guest book and received a bust of Gandhi, along with a commemorative book, highlighting the cultural connection between the two countries.
Upon arrival in Delhi on March 4, President Ukhnaa was welcomed by Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, and was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, noted the warmth of the reception and emphasized the importance of reinforcing the civilizational bonds shared by India and Mongolia.
Accompanying President Ukhnaa is a high-level delegation that includes cabinet ministers, members of parliament, senior officials, business leaders, and cultural representatives. This visit is particularly notable as it is his first as the Head of State of Mongolia.
The diplomatic relations between India and Mongolia were established in 1955. Over the past seven decades, the partnership has evolved into a multifaceted alliance, underpinned by shared cultural and spiritual values. Both countries have collaborated across various sectors, including defence, security, education, healthcare, and cultural exchange.
The relationship has been characterized by mutual respect and cooperation, with both nations aiming to enhance their strategic partnership. The visit is expected to lead to discussions on expanding cooperation in energy, mining, information technology, and other critical areas.
As President Ukhnaa’s visit unfolds, it is anticipated that further agreements and initiatives will be established, further solidifying the strong ties between India and Mongolia.
