Ayodhya is undergoing a significant transformation as it prepares for the ninth edition of Deepotsav, driven by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s extensive development initiatives. These efforts aim to enhance the city’s cultural heritage and tourism appeal, making it a focal point for both spiritual and leisure travelers.

Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the city is evolving into a modern pilgrimage and tourism hub. Key projects include the beautification of Ram Ki Paidi and the rejuvenation of the Saryu ghats. These upgrades are designed to preserve Ayodhya’s historical significance while promoting contemporary tourism facilities.

Grand Developments Ahead of Deepotsav

As Deepotsav approaches, the improvements at Ram Ki Paidi are particularly noteworthy. The government has invested approximately Rs 2,324.55 lakh to construct a new spectator gallery, designed to accommodate between 18,000 and 20,000 visitors at once. This gallery enhances the viewing experience, making it more comfortable and visually appealing than in previous years.

A newly developed selfie point featuring impressive stone statues of Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita, and Lakshman has also become a major attraction. The upgrades include modern lighting, boundary walls, and improved tourist amenities, giving Ram Ki Paidi a world-class appearance.

Looking ahead, an additional project has been approved for the financial year 2024-25 with an allocation of Rs 2,367.61 lakh. This plan includes the construction of eight small amphitheatres, six intricately designed stone canopies, grand lamps, and towering stone pillars, further enhancing the aesthetics of the ghat.

Enhancing Spiritual Tourism Along the Saryu River

The Saryu River, known as the lifeline of Ayodhya, is also set to see transformative changes. A budget of Rs 2,346.11 lakh has been allocated for the renovation and beautification of a 2.5-kilometer stretch of the ghats. This initiative includes the construction of 32 stone canopies, 11 massive pillars, and various worship platforms, along with dedicated zones for Gau Pooja.

These enhancements will not only beautify the area but also establish it as a new center for spiritual tourism. Improved lighting systems and cleaner ghats are set to elevate the experience of the Saryu Aarti, making it even more mesmerizing for visitors.

According to Manoj Sharma, Project Manager at UPPCL, these initiatives represent more than just construction projects; they symbolize a cultural renaissance. He emphasized that the beautification efforts have significantly boosted Ayodhya’s spiritual ambiance and tourism momentum.

District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram noted that all construction projects are managed through UPPCL. He indicated that these developments are elevating Ayodhya’s global stature while preserving its rich cultural heritage. The initiatives are expected to create a safer and more pleasant environment for devotees, ultimately benefiting the local economy and tourism sector.

As Ayodhya prepares for Deepotsav, the city’s combination of ancient tradition and modern development is poised to attract visitors from around the world. The ongoing efforts by Yogi Adityanath and local authorities will undoubtedly enhance the experience for all who come to witness Ayodhya’s vibrant spiritual heritage.
