Prime Minister Modi to Launch ₹42,000 Crore Agricultural Initiatives

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch two significant agricultural initiatives totaling over ₹42,000 crore in New Delhi on October 11, 2025. These projects aim to bolster the agriculture and allied sectors, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure and supporting farmers.
The first initiative, the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, carries an outlay of ₹24,000 crore. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the scheme’s objectives include improving agricultural productivity, promoting crop diversification, and implementing sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, it aims to enhance post-harvest storage capabilities at the panchayat and block levels, improve irrigation facilities, and facilitate access to both long-term and short-term credit in selected districts across the country.
Another crucial component of the launch is the ‘Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses’, which has a budget of ₹11,440 crore. This initiative intends to boost pulse productivity, expand cultivation areas, and strengthen the value chain covering procurement, storage, and processing. It also seeks to reduce post-harvest losses, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of the sector.
Inauguration of Key Projects
During the event, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate projects valued at over ₹5,450 crore in various sectors, including agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing. Additionally, he will lay the foundation for new projects amounting to approximately ₹815 crore. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance agricultural practices and ensure food security.
The Prime Minister will participate in a special programme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, where he is expected to engage with farmers, highlighting the importance of their contributions to the nation’s food supply. Following this interaction, he will address a public gathering, emphasizing the government’s ongoing commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural self-reliance.
The PMO’s statement underscores that the programme will focus on promoting modern agricultural practices and celebrating milestones in initiatives aimed at benefiting farmers.
Details of the Launch and Future Developments
Among the projects being inaugurated are the Artificial Insemination Training Center in Bengaluru and the Centre of Excellence in Amreli and Banas. The establishment of an IVF Lab in Assam under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission is also significant, alongside the opening of Milk Powder Plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara. The Prime Minister will also unveil a Fish Feed Plant in Tezpur, Assam, and various infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing agro-processing and cold chain facilities.
Projects for which the foundation stone will be laid include an Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure in Krishna, Andhra Pradesh, as well as trout fisheries in Uttarakhand and an Integrated Aqua Park in Nagaland. A smart, integrated fishing harbour in Karaikal, Puducherry, and a state-of-the-art Integrated Aquapark in Hirakud, Odisha, are also part of the future developments.
The Prime Minister’s interaction with farmers engaged in pulse cultivation will further illustrate the government’s value chain-based approach in agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. These initiatives represent a significant step towards strengthening the agricultural landscape in India, ensuring sustainability, and improving the livelihoods of farmers across the nation.
