Karnataka State Film Awards 2021: Top Honors for Doddahatti Bore Gowda

The Karnataka government has officially announced the winners of the State Film Awards for 2021, with Doddahatti Bore Gowda taking home the prestigious title of best film. The film’s director, Raghukesh M., produced it in collaboration with Rajarajeshwari Combines. The award was determined by a jury led by senior journalist Sadashiva Shenoy.

In a notable recognition of individual talent, Rakshit Shetty won the award for best actor for his performance in Charlie 777. The film, produced by Paramvah Studios and directed by Kiranraj K., received the second-best film award. Meanwhile, Archana Jois, known for her work in the acclaimed film KGF, was awarded the best actress honor for her role in Mute.

Several other awards were also presented during the ceremony. Bisilu Kudure, directed by Hridaya Shiva, secured the third-best film award. The award for best social concern film was given to Bharatada Prajegalaada Naavu, directed and produced by Krishnamurthy Chamaram. Additionally, Puneeth Rajkumar‘s Yuvarathna was recognized as the best popular entertaining film.

The awards also highlighted notable performances in supporting roles. Pramod won best supporting actor for his role in Ratnan Prapancha, while Umashree received the best supporting actress award for the same film. In the technical categories, Ravi Santhehaklu was awarded for best art direction for Bhajarangi 2, and Nagarjuna Sharma was honored as best lyricist for his song in Charlie 777.

The best playback singer (Male) award went to Aneesh Keshav Rao for his work on Sri Jagannatha Dasaru, whereas Sahana M. Bharadwaj was recognized as the best playback singer (Female) for her contribution to Dandi.

In addition to the main awards, the jury made several special mentions. Bhairavi was recognized as a film of merit, while Yogi G. Raju received accolades for costume design in Bhajarangi 2. Shivakumar was honored for his make-up work in Thayi Kastur Gandhi, and Shivakumar S. was named best production executive for his contributions to Pogaru.
