Villagers recount the story of an enigmatic old woman who distributed soil with instructions to keep it away from homes. Following her departure, the epidemic ceased, and the soil became a sacred symbol, leading to the establishment of the temple.

A particularly notable custom occurs during Navratri, especially on Saptami, when devotees apply vermilion to the faint shape on the wall.
