PM Modi Calls 2026-27 Union Budget a Historic Roadmap for India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 as a “historic” document that captures the aspirations of India’s population, which stands at approximately 1.4 billion. In a televised address following the budget’s presentation by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha, Modi emphasized that the budget serves as a “highway of opportunities” and lays a strategic foundation for a developed India, referred to as Viksit Bharat.
Modi articulated that the budget reflects the empowered role of women in governance, noting that Sitharaman has achieved a milestone by presenting the national budget for the ninth consecutive time. He remarked, “Today’s budget is historic. It reflects the aspirations of 140 crore Indians and strengthens the reform journey,” highlighting its significance in shaping the economic landscape.
The Prime Minister outlined the budget’s ambitious objectives, aimed at invigorating initiatives like Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He stated, “This Budget is the foundation for our journey towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047. It will give India’s reform express new energy and new momentum.”
Modi insisted that India’s ambitions extend beyond merely being the fastest-growing economy. He emphasized the country’s goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy, asserting that this objective resonates with the resolve of millions of citizens. “We want to become the world’s third-largest economy as soon as possible,” he added.
The Prime Minister described the budget as embodying a vision of trust-based governance and a human-centric economic framework. He pointed out that it uniquely prioritizes fiscal responsibility while balancing high capital expenditure with sustainable economic growth. “This budget further strengthens India’s global role,” Modi remarked.
The support earmarked for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) within this budget is expected to empower these businesses to expand from local markets to the global stage. Modi expressed confidence that these measures will provide MSMEs with the strength needed to thrive.
In conclusion, the Union Budget 2026-27 has been positioned by Prime Minister Modi not only as a financial plan but as a transformative vision for India’s future. With its focus on economic growth, gender empowerment, and global aspirations, it aims to set a course for a prosperous and developed nation by the year 2047.
