The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released its annual results for Class 11, revealing that approximately 83 percent of students successfully qualified the examinations. The announcement, made on January 14, 2024, indicates a significant achievement for the board as it reflects the performance of a total of 81,573 candidates enrolled in the exams.

Among those who passed, the results show a notable difference between genders. A total of 86 percent of female students qualified, compared to 81 percent of male students. The board has highlighted that out of the total candidates, 67,932 successfully met the requirements to pass the exams.

Detailed Performance Statistics

The results further reveal distinctions in performance among students. Specifically, 37,997 candidates achieved distinctions, while 25,694 secured first divisions. Additionally, 4,216 students received second division marks, and 25 candidates registered third division scores.

Despite the positive overall results, 608 students did not qualify, and 13,032 have been instructed to reappear for the exams. This indicates a need for continued support and preparation for those who did not meet the passing criteria.

Syllabus Relaxation and Academic Challenges

In light of the challenges faced during the academic year, including a delayed start and disruptions caused by severe weather conditions, JKBOSE announced a 15 percent syllabus relaxation for students in Class 10, 11, and 12. According to the Director of Academics at JKBOSE, this decision was made following recommendations from the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) and the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ).

The official notification states that eligible students preparing for the upcoming annual examination in the Kashmir Division and the winter zone areas of Jammu Division, including the Union Territory of Ladakh, will attempt 85 percent of the marks, which equates to full marks, benefitting from the syllabus reduction.

Earlier this year, on January 14, JKBOSE also published the results for Class 10 and Class 12, with pass rates of 85 percent and 84 percent, respectively. This consistent performance across grades highlights the ongoing efforts by the board to support students in achieving their educational goals despite the challenges presented by the academic calendar.
