Odisha Researchers Recognized Among World’s Elite Scientists
In a significant achievement for the scientific community in Odisha, numerous Odia researchers have been included in the esteemed ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ list. Compiled by Stanford University, this annual ranking highlights the most influential researchers across various disciplines based on their citation metrics and overall impact.
The latest list features an impressive array of talent from institutions throughout Odisha. A total of 20 researchers hail from SOA University, followed by 18 from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, and 6 from KIIT. Additionally, two researchers each represent the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research at Berhampur, OUAT, OUTR, and Sambalpur University. Other notable contributors include one researcher each from CIPET, FM University, Ravenshaw University, GIET University at Gunupur, Government College of Engineering in Keonjhar, CIFA-Bhubaneswar, and Sri Sri University.

The inclusion of these researchers signifies their status as leading figures in their respective fields. Among them is Prof Luna Samanta, head of the zoology department at Ravenshaw University. According to Stanford University, the list is produced in collaboration with Elsevier and Scopus and is based on standardized citation indicators. These include metrics such as citation counts, h-index, co-authorship, and overall impact across 22 main scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. The criteria ensure that the ranking reflects not just the quantity of publications, but their significance and influence in the scientific community.
