Jharkhand Board Exams 2026 Commence Under Enhanced Security
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has officially launched the Class 10 board examinations in Ranchi on the morning of February 17, 2026, implementing strict security protocols. The Class 12 examinations are set to begin later in the day, with a significant number of students participating.
This year, approximately 4.23 lakh students are registered to take the Class 10 exams, which are being conducted across 1,232 centres. In addition, over 3.24 lakh candidates will sit for the Class 12 examinations at 757 centres. The Class 10 exams commenced at 9:45 AM and will run until 1:00 PM, while the Class 12 exams are scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.
Security Measures and Examination Integrity
According to JAC Secretary Jayant Mishra, the Class 10 exams began with vocational subjects, and all necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate a smooth examination process. “CCTV cameras have been installed in all examination halls, and invigilators are prohibited from carrying mobile phones during the exams,” Mishra told the media.
The Class 10 examinations will conclude with regional language papers on February 17, while the Class 12 exams will finish with core language subjects on February 23. This date coincides with civic body elections in the state, prompting JAC officials to seek guidelines from the State Election Commission regarding the scheduling conflict. “Based on the guidelines, we will make further decisions,” added Mishra.
Warning Against Fake Question Papers
In a related development, JAC has issued a strict warning regarding the circulation of fake and outdated question papers, which have surfaced on various social media platforms, including YouTube, Telegram, and WhatsApp. The council considers these actions a serious threat to the integrity of the examinations.
“Creating, sharing, or forwarding fake question papers, as well as spreading rumors, will be treated as a criminal offence,”
stated Mishra. Violators will face stringent legal action under the IT Act 2000 and the Indian Penal Code. Furthermore, social media channels or groups involved in such activities will be shut down, and the names of those responsible will be made public.
The council has urged the public to maintain peace around examination centres, report any suspicious activities immediately, and rely solely on official notifications issued by JAC. To assist candidates, a toll-free helpline has been established for those seeking help during this critical period.
