Marvel Rivals Introduces Zombie Mode for Thrilling PvE Battles

NetEase has officially announced the launch of a new PvE game mode for its title, Marvel Rivals, set to debut on October 23, 2025. This mode, titled Marvel Rivals Zombies, will immerse players in intense battles against waves of the undead, led by the character Namor. The announcement was made on October 17, 2025, along with a preview of the gameplay mechanics.
The new mode draws inspiration from the popular Marvel Zombies series, allowing players to engage in horde-based combat within the iconic setting of New York City. Participants will select from a limited roster of heroes, each with modified abilities tailored to confront the overwhelming zombie threats. The gameplay revolves around four heroes working together, aiming to fend off the relentless undead until they either succeed in defeating two formidable bosses, Namor and Hela, or are overwhelmed themselves.
Gameplay Dynamics and Character Abilities
In this cooperative mode, players will have the opportunity to utilize five confirmed heroes. Among them is Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, who can deploy a turret functioning as an automated machine gun. This allows him to navigate the battlefield effectively while maintaining offensive pressure. Magik will feature enhanced area-of-effect (AoE) damage, and her ultimate ability, Dark Child, will be without limits, offering strategic advantages when dealing with hordes of zombies.
Additionally, Thor will possess an awakened state enabling him to unleash lightning strikes on multiple foes. Blade will benefit from a substantial AoE enhancement on his sword attacks, allowing him to strike multiple enemies simultaneously. Jeff the Land Shark gains a unique ability to knock back incoming zombies, providing crucial crowd control during intense encounters.
Anticipated Features and Cosmetics
In conjunction with the new game mode, players can expect a variety of new cosmetic items to enhance their gaming experience. Notable additions may include a themed skin for Moon Knight as seen in the TV series, as well as a Halloween-themed outfit for Jeff the Land Shark, which has already been showcased.
The collaboration between NetEase and Marvel Studios reflects a growing trend in the gaming industry, where established franchises explore innovative gameplay modes to engage their audiences. As fans eagerly await the release of Marvel Rivals Zombies, excitement continues to build for the opportunity to take on undead foes in this new PvE experience.
