The highly anticipated Telugu film The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi and starring Prabhas, is currently scheduled for release on December 5, 2025. However, producer TG Vishwa Prasad has indicated that the film’s release might be rescheduled to coincide with the Sankranthi festival, which takes place in January. In a recent interview with Great Andhra, Vishwa noted that there is strong sentiment among fans and the Telugu film industry for a January 9 release.

When discussing the original December date, Vishwa stated, “See, I didn’t announce this publicly. But many people are of the view that it should be released for Sankranthi. Fans want that, as do Telugu business circles. There’s a strong proposal to release it on January 9.”

The competitive landscape for film releases is also a consideration, as Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, is tentatively set for the same date. Vishwa acknowledged this, expressing that the Hindi film sector is advocating for Dhurandhar to release on December 5, since there are no significant films debuting on that date. Vishwa affirmed, “We will anyway do what’s right for us.”

The production of The Raja Saab has faced delays, originally slated for April 10, 2025. Vishwa confirmed that the film is expected to be ready by October, with a current total of 4 hours and 30 minutes of raw footage. The final runtime is likely to be decided by Maruthi, with options of either 2 hours 45 minutes or 3 hours 15 minutes.

In addition, Vishwa revealed plans for a sequel to The Raja Saab, which will explore a different storyline within the same universe. The film features a star-studded cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan—making her Telugu debut—and Riddhi Kumar.

The film is produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, with music composed by Thaman S.. As fans eagerly await the release, the decision on the final date will significantly influence the box office landscape for early 2026.
