Kangana Ranaut has once again voiced her concerns about the treatment of female actors in Bollywood, labeling male counterparts as “badtameez,” or rude. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, she highlighted her experiences and observations of the behavior exhibited by some male actors on set, emphasizing a need for greater respect and professionalism.

During the interview, Ranaut was asked whether she had faced inappropriate advances from male actors. She replied candidly, stating, “I haven’t worked with so many heroes. My concern was that these heroes were extremely impolite.” Her comments reflect a broader issue within the industry that she has consistently addressed, focusing not only on allegations of sexual harassment but also on general disrespectful behavior.

Ranaut elaborated on her experiences, saying, “I am not implying in a sexual way. But things like coming late, behaving badly, putting the heroine down, sidelining them, and giving them a small van… I faced a lot of trouble in this regard.” She expressed her frustration that while many female actors accept such treatment, her refusal to tolerate it led to backlash against her. “They thought, why am I so proud of this?” she added, indicating a culture that often penalizes those who stand against the norm.

Kangana’s Recent Work and Industry Impact

The actress’s latest project, the political drama Emergency, was released on January 17, 2023. In this film, she portrays former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, exploring the controversial 21-month Emergency period from 1975 to 1977, often regarded as one of the most tumultuous times in Indian history. Ranaut not only starred in the film but also took on the role of director.

Despite her efforts, Emergency did not perform well at the box office, prompting Ranaut to openly criticize award shows and their recognition criteria. The film features a notable cast, including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman, but failed to resonate with audiences as anticipated.

Kangana Ranaut’s outspoken nature and willingness to confront systemic issues in Bollywood continue to garner attention. Her comments serve as a reminder of the challenges female actors face in the industry, where disrespectful behavior can often go unchecked. As she navigates her career, Ranaut remains a prominent figure advocating for change and equality within the entertainment sector.
