ABV Hosts International Music Competition Final in Hyderabad
Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini (ABV), an initiative founded by renowned singer Dr. Shobha Raju, will host the finals of the ‘Tandanana — Annamacharya International Music Competition’ on December 20, 2023, at Annamayyapuram, Hitec City. This highly anticipated event showcases the remarkable talents of nine finalists selected from over 600 participants representing 18 countries.
The competition celebrates the legacy of Saint Annamacharya, whose sankeertanas promote values that transcend barriers of caste, creed, and culture. According to Dr. Raju, her mission aims to help individuals grasp the “true spirit of music” and the deeper meanings embedded in the compositions of Saint Annamacharya.
Celebrating Harmony Through Music
“Lord Venkateshwara Swamy is not just a statue on a hill. He is the energy of the universe,” Dr. Raju stated in a recent interview. She emphasized that living in harmony with nature brings about peace and contentment. This philosophy is central to the competition, which encourages participants to express their musical talents while embracing these enduring values.
Each of the nine finalists will perform live, with three chosen from each category. Jyotsna Kompalli, the programme director, highlighted the significance of this event in promoting cultural exchange through music. The performances promise to be both a celebration of talent and a tribute to the teachings of Saint Annamacharya.
Distinguished Guests and Awards
Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji will serve as the chief guest, adding to the event’s prestige. Winners of the competition will receive gold medals, which will be presented at a special ceremony by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in Vijayawada.
As this vibrant competition draws near, anticipation builds for a night of extraordinary performances that honor a rich musical tradition while fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation among diverse participants.
