Richarlison Shines with Spectacular Goals in Spurs’ 3-0 Win

In an electrifying start to the Premier League season, Tottenham Hotspur secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Burnley on August 16, 2025. Brazilian striker Richarlison was the star of the match, netting two impressive goals, including an acrobatic volley that echoed his renowned strike at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Richarlison opened the scoring in the 10th minute, skillfully converting a cross from new teammate Mohammed Kudus. This early goal set the tone for the match, showcasing the synergy between the two players. The duo combined effectively again in the second half, leading to Richarlison’s overhead kick that doubled Spurs’ lead in the 60th minute. This stunning goal drew immediate comparisons to his iconic volley against Serbia in Qatar, which won the accolade for the World Cup’s goal of the tournament.
“What a Goaaaal @richarlison97! What an unbelievable strike to all those fans that said he must be sold—you’ve been silenced,”
tweeted a passionate supporter, capturing the excitement surrounding Richarlison’s performance.
Despite facing challenges since his transfer from Everton, where he struggled with injuries and inconsistent form, Richarlison’s display against Burnley marked a significant turnaround. He had previously scored just three goals in 35 appearances during his debut season and five goals in 24 matches last season. His remarkable brace on Saturday serves as a powerful statement regarding his potential impact this season.
Richarlison’s influence extended beyond his two goals. He played a pivotal role in Tottenham’s third goal, evading a challenge from Burnley’s Estève to set up midfielder Pape Sarr. Sarr then assisted last season’s top scorer, Brennan Johnson, who made no mistake in finding the back of the net in the 66th minute. Following his performance, Richarlison received a standing ovation as he was substituted, a testament to the appreciation of fans and a signal of the changing dynamics at Spurs under new manager Thomas Frank.
After the match, a visibly elated Richarlison expressed gratitude for his teammate’s contributions. “Thank you for the assists,” he said, adding, “I’m so happy with this guy – next week he deserves to score because he works so hard for the team. I think this guy’s Brazilian!”
As Tottenham Hotspur embarks on what they hope will be a successful Premier League campaign, Richarlison’s resurgence could be a key factor in their aspirations. The combination of his skill and new signings like Kudus may well redefine Spurs’ offensive strategy in the upcoming matches.
