The vibrant celebrations of Navratri 2025 kicked off in Mumbai with a spectacular performance by renowned singer Falguni Pathak at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Fans flocked to the venue on the first day of the festival to revel in the traditional garba dance, marking a joyful start to a season filled with cultural festivities.

Among the enthusiastic attendees was Ekta Shah, a devoted fan who has attended Pathak’s shows for the past 19 years. She brought her daughter Rivana along, who expressed her excitement, saying, “I am super excited for this Navratri because I have been waiting for it for months. It is my favourite festival.” Rivana’s outfit, a modern twist on the traditional chaniya choli, paired with light-up sneakers, showcased her enthusiasm for the occasion.

“I get inspired by my mother to dance gracefully,” the nine-year-old added, reflecting the family tradition of celebrating Navratri together. Ekta Shah remarked on their long-standing admiration for Pathak, stating, “Dancing to Falguni Pathak’s music is amazing. We have been fan-following her for a long time. She is just zabardast (fantastic).”

The Shah family’s dedication to the artist is evident; they even traveled to Ankleshwar in Gujarat to see her perform. Their love for Pathak’s music extends beyond the festival, with the family listening to her songs year-round. Ekta revealed, “We realised that this is what we need – the beat, music and the way the step and flow go, and that is absolutely amazing.”

The excitement was palpable among other fans as well. Raj Valia, a resident of Vile Parle, expressed his thoughts on experiencing Pathak’s performance on such a grand scale for the first time. “While I have been coming for Falguni’s shows for a long time, this is the first time it is happening on such a grand scale,” he said.

Valia, who attended with ten friends, highlighted his favorite song, “Maine Payal Hai Chhankai,” which resonates with many who grew up listening to Pathak’s music. His appreciation for her unique vocal style underscores the impact she has on her audience.

The energy was equally high among Aditya Tripathi and his friends, who made the journey from Borivali to witness Pathak live. Dressed in vibrant traditional attire, they were eager to celebrate. “We are quite excited to watch Falguni this year because this is her first time performing in BKC and it is a much bigger and better venue,” Tripathi noted.

The group shared their favorite songs, with Janak naming “Maine Payal Hai Chhankai” and Nikesh favoring “Hu To Sodi De Mari Mata Nahi Sode.” Manasvi added another popular choice, “Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi,” amplifying the festive atmosphere.

As the festivities commenced, attendees began arriving at the Jio Convention Centre as early as 17:00 (5 PM) to participate in the Radiance Dandiya Navratri Utsav 2025, produced by Purple Blue Events & Ideas and TribeVibe Entertainment. The venue was filled with colorful attire, from bright yellows to deep reds, as revelers of all ages soaked in the celebration that lasted until the early hours of the morning.

This year’s Navratri promises to be a remarkable celebration, as both seasoned fans and newcomers join together in honoring the traditions and music that have defined the festival for generations. With Falguni Pathak at the helm, the energy and joy of the festivities are sure to resonate throughout Mumbai.
