Telangana Leaders Mourn Death of State Anthem Author Ande Sri
The literary community in Telangana is mourning the death of renowned poet and lyricist Ande Sri, who passed away on November 10, 2023, at the age of 64. The author of the state song “Jaya Jayahe Telangana,” Ande Sri’s contributions to the cultural landscape of Telangana were significant, particularly during the state’s movement for independence.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed profound shock at Ande Sri’s sudden passing. He described it as an “irreparable loss” to the literary world. Former Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao (commonly known as KCR) also expressed his sorrow over the loss. He characterized Ande Sri’s death as a significant loss to the cultural heritage of Telangana. KCR acknowledged Ande Sri’s pivotal role in the cultural movement that led to the formation of Telangana, noting that the poet’s songs and literature resonated deeply with the aspirations of the people. He shared memories of their collaboration during the Telangana movement and conveyed his deepest sympathies to the family, praying for Ande Sri’s soul to find rest.
