Neeraj Kumar Jaiswal, also known as Sullu, was arrested on March 16, 2024, by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) for allegedly defrauding a real estate firm of Rs 6.4 crore. The arrest took place near the new bridge underpass on the road leading to Minto Park and Mankameshwar Temple in Prayagraj.

According to STF officials, intelligence reports indicated that Jaiswal was hiding in the Kydganj area. A swift operation led by Sub-Inspector Dharmendra Singh culminated in his apprehension. During the interrogation, Jaiswal revealed that he had been working as an agent for Sangam Construction Company since 2016. Along with his accomplice, Sudhir Keserwani, he reportedly created forged documents, leading to the embezzlement of substantial funds from the company.

The fraudulent activities came to light when the company’s owner confronted Jaiswal, prompting him to return Rs 75 lakh of the defrauded amount. However, he failed to repay the remaining sum, which led the company proprietor to file a formal complaint at the George Town Police Station.

As investigations progressed, authorities uncovered multiple offences under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A non-bailable warrant was subsequently issued after Jaiswal fled to Nepal, prompting the case to be transferred to the STF on the directive of the UP Director General of Police.

Officials confirmed that Jaiswal has an extensive criminal history, with nine registered cases across five police stations in Prayagraj. This includes four cases in Mutthiganj, two in Kydganj, and one each in Koraon, George Town, and the Industrial Area police station. Following his arrest, Jaiswal has been handed over to the George Town Police for further legal action.

The swift response from the STF highlights the ongoing efforts to combat white-collar crime in the region, ensuring that individuals engaged in fraudulent activities are held accountable.
