Dr. Agron Alija, Esteemed Physician, Dies in Ontario Car Crash

A tragic car accident claimed the life of Dr. Agron Alija, a respected physician based in London, Ontario. The incident occurred on October 21, 2025, when Dr. Alija, 62, was involved in a head-on collision on Fanshawe Park Road at approximately 08:25. He sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital later that day.

The crash also left another driver with serious injuries. London police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing to the public for any dashcam or surveillance footage that might assist their inquiries.

Community Mourns a Dedicated Doctor

Dr. Alija worked as a family doctor at the Active Care Medical Centre, where he was known for his dedication to both patients and colleagues. Following his death, the medical centre released a heartfelt statement, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their esteemed colleague. “His kindness, dedication, and compassion touched the lives of many,” the statement read.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. The visitation will take place from noon to 14:00, followed by a burial ceremony at 14:00.

Colleagues remembered Dr. Alija as a caring and committed professional. “He was our gentle giant,” said Dr. Monica Faria, who worked alongside him at Four Counties Health Services, a small rural hospital located about 45 kilometres southwest of London. Dr. Faria noted that Dr. Alija had been scheduled to work in the emergency department on the night of the accident. “He always offered his care to patients in the emergency department who didn’t have a doctor,” she added.

A Life of Service and Commitment

Dr. Alija was born in Kosovo and immigrated to Canada in 1999, shortly after the onset of the Kosovo War. Before moving, he served as a physician in Prishtina and worked as a translator for the Kosovo Diplomatic Observer Mission, where he documented human rights abuses.

He became a certified physician in Ontario in 2009 and held the position of associate professor at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Throughout his career, Dr. Alija earned admiration for his professionalism and unwavering commitment to his patients, saving countless lives along the way.

The London chapter of the Albanian Canadian Society expressed their condolences, describing Dr. Alija’s death as a profound loss. He is survived by his wife and children, including a daughter who also practices medicine in Port Perry.

Dr. Alija’s legacy will continue through the many lives he touched in his community and the healthcare profession. His dedication and compassion will be remembered by all who knew him.
